Building UK Capability for the Future Electromagnetic Environment Through Research, Innovation and Collaboration
Date: Wednesday 1st July & Thursday 2nd July 2026
Location: Queen Mary University of London (QMUL)
The EME Hub Impact Workshop Showcase 2026 will bring together leading academic researchers, industry partners, defence primes with Dstl and MoD, and the wider electromagnetic environment (EME) community to explore emerging technologies, future capability needs, and translational research opportunities across the rapidly evolving EME landscape.
Hosted by Queen Mary University of London on 1–2 July 2026, the showcase will provide a strategic platform to highlight cutting-edge research and innovation being developed across the EME Hub universities and partner network. The event will focus not only on scientific and technical advances, but also on their potential to shape future defence and security capabilities in increasingly contested and adaptive electromagnetic environments.
The programme is designed to encourage meaningful interaction between academia, industry and government stakeholders through technical presentations, challenge-led discussions, demonstrator showcases, and collaborative networking sessions. Particular emphasis will be placed on identifying pathways towards real-world impact, future demonstrators, interdisciplinary collaboration, and longer-term exploitation opportunities.
The event builds on the strong momentum generated through previous EME Hub themed workshops and concept reviews, including work on programmable metamaterials, adaptive electromagnetic systems, AI-enabled sensing, advanced materials, additive manufacturing, and resilient future EM platforms.
