Dates: 9-11 August 2023, Glasgow

Course Aims: To provide the participants with an understanding of the principles, design, and analysis of the electromagnetic threats to uncrewed vehicles and how uncrewed vehicles may be protected in an electromagnetic environment.

Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) of the Summer School: On successful completion of the summer school, you will have a good understanding of Electromagnetic Activities (EMA) including Electromagnetic Attack (EA), Electromagnetic Protective Measures (EPM) and Electromagnetic Surveillance Measures (ESM). The ILOs of the course are as follows.

  • Outline the various electromagnetic attack and associated defence measures applicable to modern uncrewed vehicles.
  • Select and assess appropriate EPM against threats to uncrewed vehicles, given an operational specification.
  • Implement appropriate ESM as part of EA action on uncrewed vehicles.
  • Implement and demonstrate EA and EM counter measure (ECM) for uncrewed vehicles.

Audience: The summer school and competition are open to graduate students, researchers, and industry professionals working in the field of electronics, communications or control systems . Participants should have a basic understanding of wireless communication and computer networking and should be familiar with programming in at least one programming language. Participants should also have an interest in UxVs and the challenges of resilient operations in the electromagnetic environment.
